OVERVIEW

Trump becoming a convicted felon is hard to upstage. While the consensus seems to be that this won’t make any difference, I beg to differ. While many people will not consider a felon as a legitimate candidate, enough people will make things very interesting.

I think one of my father’s old descriptions works very well for the Trumpist remnant of the Republican Party. They don’t know whether to shit or go blind.

The growing panic in the establishments of power may bring the structure down around us before we get to see Trump’s authoritarian circus with clown cars return.

Climate collapse is still accelerating, although China reports a reduction in carbon emissions. Every little bit helps, but the benefits are so far down the road that it is a purely academic exercise. That may be the only positive we have looking at a thousand years into the future.

But as usual, we have the ugly first and then what positives we can find later.
