The Weekly Flail — April 26, 2025

9 min readApr 26, 2025

OVERVIEW

Ignoring the fumbling and daily outrages of the Trump Chaos does not help, but it does provide a break from the depressing deluge. On a positive note, it appears that Trump is now desperate to find someone willing to discuss tariff deals with them. Having claimed that countries were lined up for meetings, the reality hit when Trump was asked to name one country in the line.

Trump tried to claim China was in talks, but China quickly denied it. Trump has now claimed Japan is working on a “deal”. From the Japanese news side, the only discussion seems to be on Trump’s statement that the yen was too weak against the dollar. Japan’s Finance Minister Kato says that he and Treasury Secretary Bessent agreed that the market should determine exchange rates. End of discussion.

This is relevant to The Flail, as our focus is planetary climate, technology, and science. The rapidly collapsing US Empire is accelerating and exacerbating the policrisis. With a senile and mentally dysfunctional incompetent and cohort in charge of that empire, chaos is the order of the day.
