We are approaching the postscript of the American Experiment. The story should have ended with a revolutionary transformation twenty years ago, but it did not. There are good arguments that several opportunities for critical revolutionary change have been missed over the last two hundred years, but that is the realm of alternate histories.

What might have been if alliances had continued to evolve with the Indigenous nations of North America, leading to partnerships with the diverse tribal groups and the growing Métis population? But genocide is our broader heritage that cannot be stopped.
