The Pledge of Planetary Climate Responsibility

Action in the face of political failure

We need a planetary basis of understanding. Our survival now depends on it. Our planetary management must have an essential list of universal principles, or we will lose our civilization and, perhaps, our existence. This need and the reality behind it are scientific facts.

Pretending we can somehow muddle through as only a random collection of nation-states and tribal units is unsustainable. The reality of our planetary climate disaster makes this essential for survival.

Some powerful groups and political regimes still deny this. This is too dangerous to tolerate. How will we manage the next centuries of environmental disasters without unified action?

Our history of failed internationalism under the League of Nations, the United Nations, and the Paris Agreement (or Paris Climate Accords) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change are laughed at by despots and ignored by all major nation-states.

I suggest avoiding yet another vast bureaucracy dedicated only to its own expansion. We have enough bureaucratic tools but lack a declaration of reality functioning as a creed for our planetary salvation.
